During the season eight, the characters of Friends are all back together, but the series has yet to show us what happens next. While the show has managed to make its audience laugh and love the characters, it is yet to find out what happens next with Chandler and Monica’s relationship. In the end, the season is a success. The series won its first Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series. This was a great success for Friends, which finished as the number one comedy series of the year. However, this season also exhibited a lot of emotional stagnation.
Joey and Chandler’s relationship takes a turn when Joey is invited to a premiere of a World War I film. However, Chandler is asleep during the premiere, so Joey is forced to take one guest. It is a one-joke subplot that doesn’t pack as much punch as the season’s main arc of Ross and Rachel’s romance.
Chandler becomes obsessed with finding out what’s inside Monica’s secret closet. However, when Phoebe brings a massage therapist to the apartment, Monica thinks Joey is in love with her. But the massage therapist ends up being Phoebe’s friend who is getting married, and the two women end up arguing about the massage. This causes Monica to suspect Chandler of stealing, and she fires her. However, when she finds out she’s been using another massage therapist, she feels betrayed. Then, when she and Monica go to the doctor’s office, she finds out that Ursula has misrepresented herself to her fiance, Eric.
Meanwhile, Ross is a bit jealous of Rachel’s flirtation with a pretty blonde. He is also having trouble telling Mona that Rachel has moved in with him. And he is worried about the future of their relationship. He even goes so far as to try to find an apartment for Rachel in his building.
Meanwhile, Phoebe and Monica’s relationship is strained. They are both trying to win back Chandler’s trust. They also are having trouble finding friends, and Monica gets a bad review in The Post. They are also having trouble making friends with other couples.
Rachel, meanwhile, is struggling with motherhood. She doesn’t feel the same way about Joey as she does about Chandler. She is also frustrated when her due date approaches. However, Joey makes Rachel feel better by taking her out for a dinner date. She also tells him how she feels. However, Ross doesn’t feel the same way.
Rachel’s pregnancy provides a great opportunity for a new storyline. However, it is a cliffhanger that is poorly structured. The show’s creators had to make the cliffhanger work. The episode was a bit of a letdown. Luckily, the show had a lot of great jokes in the following episodes.
The first episode of season eight, “…The Stripper”, is a very funny episode. It was very much a cliffhanger, but it also helped move the Ross and Rachel arc forward. It was also the episode that made Ross realize he has an encounter on videotape. However, the episode also helped move Ross’ relationship with Rachel forward, which made the episode a lot more interesting.
